Nagpur Neuro Society

The idea of forming a regular neuro activity for interested clinical cases in neurosurgery and neurology was created in 1987. The prime mover was Late Dr. G.M. Taori. So, in October 1987, the Nagpur Neuro Club was formed by the late Dr. G.M. Taori and Dr. Shyam Babhulkar. Formal approval was taken from Prof. V.K. Kakani, then NSI Secretary. Initially, Nagpur Neuro Club had only four Neuro members (4N.P+3N.S). We used to meet every Thursday at 4 p.m. on CIIMS premises. The interested physicians and surgeons were too invited.

In 1993, the Nagpur Neuro Club (MMC) was registered with the Charity Commissioner and named the Nagpur Neuro Society (MMC), A regular constitution was formed, and Secretary were given to neurosurgery and neurophysician on an annual basis. The past presidents of NNS were 1. Dr. G.M. Taori, 2. Dr.H.G. Deshpande, 3. Dr. C.M. Meshram, 4. Dr. Y.S. Patki, and Dr.Jayant Patel, and the present president is Dr. Shyam Babhulkar, with Secretary Dr.Nitin Chandak.

There are around 75 life members, and a regular clinical meeting is held on the 2nd Wednesday of each month, which has group on since last 29 or 30 years.In 2022, we celebrated the 1st Annual Day of NNS with the 1st Late Dr. G.M. Taori Oration in August 2022. This will now be a regular feature in the month of Dr. G.M. Taori’s birth and death (i.e., June of every year) .
